Conductive Hearing LossThis is a condition of the outer and/or middle ear. It occurs when sounds from the outside world cannot be transmitted normally through the ear canal to the inner ear. In other words, sound is blocked. Common causes include build up of wax in the ear canal, perforated eardrums, fluid in the middle ear (common in children), effects of arthritic or hormonal changes, and damaged or abnormally moving ossicles (middle ear bones which conduct and amplify sound).
